GTA 6 Was Originally Set for November 2025 Release, Take-Two Confirms

After years of leaks, speculation, and anticipation, it’s now clear that Grand Theft Auto VI was originally planned to launch in November 2025. This revelation comes from Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick, who confirmed the delay was less than six months — indirectly pointing to a late 2025 release window.
Rockstar Games first revealed GTA 6 in December 2023, along with a vague 2025 launch window. Recently, the company unveiled a second trailer, confirming a new official release date: May 26, 2026, exclusively for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. A PC version has yet to be announced.
The game’s story centers on Jason and Lucia, who get caught in a criminal conspiracy across the fictional state of Leonida, inspired by Florida. The duo must rely on each other to survive in what Rockstar calls “the darkest side of the sunniest place in America.”
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick interviewed on CNBC:
• “Rockstar Games are trying to create the best thing anyone’s ever seen in entertainment”
• Asked if he played it, says he doesn’t play video-games but gives opinions (0:55)
• Says delay is very little, only less than six… pic.twitter.com/vb9fc17zZq— ben (@videotechuk_) May 16, 2025
Given that both GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 launched in November, it makes sense that GTA 6 was aiming for the same timeframe — before the unfortunate delay.
Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to launch, and don’t miss the explosive new trailer that’s already taken social media by storm.
